No. This tool is self-contained — the jaw design applies separating force directly. You work it by hand or with a breaker bar if needed; no secondary striking tool required.
Will this work on both inner and outer tie rod ends?
Yes. The jaw is sized to grip standard tapered studs on both ends of the tie rod assembly. Test fit on your specific vehicle to confirm clearance in tight spots.
What if the stud won't separate?
Apply penetrating oil and let it soak for 15–30 minutes before attempting removal. Work the tool back and forth gently to break corrosion without forcing the jaw sideways, which can damage the threads you're trying to preserve.
