These Lower HQ bump steer tie rods let you raise or lower the outer tie rod pivot with shims on a lowered BMW E46 or Z4. Putting the pivot back in the right place reduces toe change as the suspension compresses, so the car steers more predictably over bumps and under hard cornering. They suit lowered street cars, track cars and drift cars, though they add noticeable noise and vibration compared with stock. Bump steer is common once an E46 or Z4 is lowered, because the tie rods sit at a steeper angle than intended. Correcting it is one of the more useful steering changes for a lowered car.
