Why Toe Plates Are the Easiest Way to Nail Your Alignment

If you're serious about handling, tire wear, or drifting performance, then toe alignment should be on your radar. But getting it right doesn’t always require an alignment rack — especially with the right tools.

Enter the game-changing tool used by grassroots drifters and pro teams alike: toe plates.

What Are Toe Plates?

Toe plates are a simple but precise tool that lets you measure toe-in or toe-out using two plates and a pair of tape measures. Slide them against your wheels, take a quick front and rear measurement, and you’ll know exactly how your toe is set.

It’s fast. It’s accurate. And it’s something you can do in your garage or between runs at the track.

Why Toe Alignment Matters

  • Toe-out improves turn-in response for drifting and autocross
  • Toe-in adds stability for high-speed grip setups
  • Incorrect toe can destroy tires and make your car twitchy

Getting this right is critical — especially if you’ve made suspension changes, lowered your car, or taken some curb damage.

The SLRspeed Advantage

Our SLRspeed Toe Plates are premium-grade, laser-cut, and powder coated for durability. Designed for track and garage use, they feature:

  • Extra-wide design for lowered and wide-body cars
  • Clear laser-etched markings for fast setup
  • High-strength construction that won’t flex under pressure

We’ve used these ourselves during pro Formula Drift events and grassroots comps — they’re reliable enough to trust with your alignment at 100mph+ entries.

How to Use Toe Plates for Alignment

  1. Park on a flat surface and set your steering wheel straight
  2. Place one toe plate against each front wheel
  3. Run one tape measure through the front slot and one through the rear slot
  4. Compare the front and rear measurements to calculate toe-in or toe-out
  5. Adjust tie rods accordingly

It’s that easy. And you can re-check your setup after each run or adjustment.
